Set in the central region of Portugal, the town of Covilha is the perfect place from which to explore the Serra da Estrela mountain range. Visitors flock here in the winter to take advantage of one of Portugal's only ski resorts. In the summer, meanwhile, there are plenty of opportunitues for hiking the dramatic peaks and scenic river valleys.
